A long time ago, hidden away as little patches in the cat's memory; the youkai was a family cat. A unique breed brought over from foreign lands that she doesn't remember and given to a wealthy family's youngest daughter as a birthday present. From there the days are all patched and pieces are missing, mostly the feline just remembers her days being petted in the sun while she slept on a pillow. From there the memories are all but blank except for the days when the youngest daughter became an adult and she an old cat.

Back then, she had wondered why she wasn't dying while her human was progressing through life. She watched as her young mistress went from teen to adult, growing into a mother with two children and a loving husband. Those children became adults and still Yuki had not died. By then, the family which possessed her; was very superstitious and both hailed and feared her as a cat god. An immortal being that watched as her young mistress age and die and repeated again with her children and their children's children. Eventually she became known as a phantom cat for the family, watching over the descendants of her beloved mistress.

She guarded the descendants, unaware that her presence at the time was causing the family a series of misfortune. Soon, before the bakeneko knew it, she was chased out by exocists and priests - the family being the ones who hired them. Confused, Yuki would constantly come back only to get chased away some more. The cycle continued for at least a generation before a new head entered the family. This head was a direct descendant of the monster cat's beloved mistress and as such, believed that she should protect her. It wasn't to be. The misfortune had gathered like a dark cloud and the head's husband, who she had just married; died of a sudden illness.

Of course Yuki was the one who was blamed. Taking it as the last straw, the family hired the most powerful source of exorcism they could. Saddened and betrayed, Yuki fled. For a long time she stayed away, a monster cat growing in power as her hatred flared. Again she went back but this time she stole something precious to the family she once loved. The only child of the family and the head's sickly granddaughter. Already on the verge of dying, Yuki was conflicted on whether to devour the child there or just let it live in misery. In the end, the cat waited. When the child had died, Yuki chose to steal away the body before devouring it. Alas the family that was once her home died off with that child, thanks to the family producing no more heirs.

After that the feline merely wandered for a time, having a taste for corpses instead of living humans. More than once has she had to learn the techniques of a monster cat against her fellow youkai and even the spiritually inclined humans.

--A little side-note: Yuki's original name was Shiro for her blue-white fur as a cat, she's the one who changed it to Arashi no Yukishiro to blend in with humans. It would roughly translate as 'Storm of White Snow'.
